After two years of research, experimentation, and collaboration, the PERSPECTIVE project concludes with a dedicated online Study Day bringing together the scientists, conservators, and heritage professionals who have shaped this journey.
Join us on 27 February 2026 at 9:30 CET for a day of presentations, discussion, and shared discoveries on one of the most complex challenges in contemporary heritage conservation: the preservation of plastic materials.
Throughout the day, speakers from major research institutions, universities, and cultural organizations across Europe will present innovative analytical techniques, case studies from museum collections, and new approaches to understanding the degradation, preservation, and restoration of historic plastics. Topics include advanced spectroscopic and imaging methods, conservation strategies for design objects, contemporary artworks, and historical materials such as celluloid and cellulose acetate, as well as preventive conservation strategies, social and ethical considerations in heritage preservation, and the development of a standardized shared vocabulary to support interdisciplinary collaboration across the field.
The meeting represents an important opportunity to connect scientific research with conservation practice and to strengthen international collaboration in this rapidly evolving field.
